LIFE
Getting back to basics seemed to be a reoccurring theme these past few weeks. Touching the inner-most elements of living; focusing on simple joys; moving in the opposite direction of popular culture and thought. A good core makes all the difference.
NATURE
Of course, the biggest news of the past few weeks is the apparent success in capping the BP oil spill in the Gulf. That ‘stain’ is causing so many to pause and reflect deeply on what it is humans are doing to Nature — how we have moved so far away from that connection to the eco-sphere around us. There is so much more we need to learn and do though.

BEING
I wonder if others feel as I do of late: A growing connection between the Individual Self and the Collective Self of all that is around us. Honestly, these feelings are both joyous and strange–in a new sort of way–at the same time. It makes me ponder how big this groundswell of focused thought and intention is — and where it could lead to.

EDITION EXTRA: Community
Once again, I am thinking about community in scales both big and small. Challenging it; redefining it; seeking a new solace within it. The more I look around, the more I see new and amazing beginnings. Society is calling into question the most basic tenets it has lived by the last few generations — and it is refreshing.
Be well,
Bill

Thanks for the link! Have a great weekend!
There was an interesting blog post and comments about this at Little Eco Footrings this week – you might like a read! I love the photos you pick for your posts!
You’re welcome, Lynn. I loved the post and am so encouraged by all those exploring and embracing the TV-free life! It rocks! Be well.
Gwynneth // Thanks for the heads-up on that post. (http://littleecofootprints.typepad.com/little_eco_footprints/2010/07/ive-given-up-sort-of-and-am-moving-onto-adaptation.html#comments) I am right there with Tricia. I think those who are tuned in at a deeper level can’t help go there from time to time. On one hand I am trying to practice mindfulness and remained tuned to the moment; on the other hand, I am that kind of planner. That’s why I’m building my gardens, honing skills, etc. Sounds crazy sometimes, but there is some comfort in it.
I think about what our children will inherit and it scares me. That’s a big impetus for writing The New Pursuit — to try in some small way to spark that insight in others and help turn the tide.
Be well. Thanks, as always, for stopping by. (And thanks for the comment on the images. It’s one of the best parts of writing the blog. So many talented people out there!)
Bill, thanks for putting together such an awesome list and for including me here (twice!) among so many great posts.
Raam // Keep writing amazing content and I’ll keep featuring your work in the Digest. It’s been fantastic connecting with a kindred spirit. Be well.
