Meditation: Fences

[Note: Each Monday at The New Pursuit is Meditation Monday. A simple thought to help you approach the week, keep perspective right and support you in living deeply each day.]

fence, breaking down fences, mediation, putting up fencesHow many fences do we encounter every day?

Big and small; physical and mental; our lives are filled with them.

We put up fences to separate, to distance, to forget. We face the fences of others doing the same.

So much time and energy is spent—unnecessarily—dealing with fences. How different would this world be without so many fences to block our individual and collective path?

This week, be mindful of the fences around you. If they are yours, begin to understand why they are there and how you can remove them. If they belong to others, strive to have the right perspective in understanding them. Reach out across these fences.

    Hey there Bill,

Great Meditation post. I enjoyed it a lot. I totally agree, and I think one of the biggest fences we humans have put up over the past few decades is against nature. We are totally disconnected from our origin and source that our kids nowadays do not even know where their french fries or meat comes from. This is probably one of the biggest fences we need to take down.

Keep on writing great posts, and be healthful!

Hi Ilham — So glad you enjoyed it. I totally agree with you! Nature is our “origin” as you put it. I like to think that in time all things come back to the source of their existence. We must be a new kind of sheppherd. Be well!

Hi Amy — Thanks so much. I totally agree that the Disconnect-From-Nature fence is one of the biggest ones we’ve put up. I think it’s starting to come down piece by piece. Imagine the view (of life) once it comes down completely! We all have our part to play in getting there. Thanks again for stopping by. Be well!
